A single phone or recorder near the middle of the table is usually enough. Clear, even voices matter more than studio-quality sound.
Before the game
- Tell everyone the session will be recorded and get their agreement.
- Charge the device or connect it to power.
- Record a 30-second test with everyone speaking from their usual seat.
- Play the test back and check that quieter players can be heard.
At the table
- Put the recorder near the center, away from dice trays, fans, and speakers.
- Rest it on a soft cloth or small stand to reduce table bumps.
- Ask players not to cover or move it during play.
- Keep background music low. Music with lyrics can make speech harder to follow.
- Use one continuous recording where possible.
Save the final recording as MP3 or M4A. A compressed M4A file is a good choice for long sessions.
