Getting started

Import an existing campaign

2 min readUpdated 14 July 2026

Campaign import is the best way to bring an established world into Saga20. It reads your source material, suggests useful world entries, and lets you review everything before it is added.

  1. Open the campaign you want to use.
  2. Go to Settings, then Campaign.
  3. Choose Import existing world.
  4. Select your source and add the requested file.
  5. Review the suggested characters, locations, factions, items, and other entries.
  6. Edit or remove anything you do not want, then finish the import.

Supported sources

  • Obsidian vaults or ZIP files
  • Notion Markdown and CSV exports
  • Google Docs exported as DOCX
  • World Anvil exports
  • Markdown, plain text, Word, and text-based PDF files

For the cleanest result, run one complete import before building the same entries by hand. Repeating overlapping imports can create similar suggestions that need to be merged.

Image-only or scanned PDFs cannot be read. Large imports may also need to be split into smaller files. Saga20 shows the current file and import limits in the importer.

If imported names appear twice, see Fix duplicate or incorrectly linked world entries.
